An overview of the juvenile criminal liability system in Medellín, Colombia, from the functionalist structuralism perspective of Talcott Parsons

One of the ways we function in society is as individuals or cells and as molecules that form groups in which we integrate to achieve a specific purpose. This is known as a social system. Parsons defines it as a whole, composed of interconnected subsystems, with structure, organization, and patterns of relationships within the system. Its function is to generate activities and processes that maintain the stability and balance it seeks to preserve, relying on a shared consensus among its members regarding values, norms, and beliefs.
Based on this contribution, our purpose is to provide a descriptive analysis of the juvenile criminal liability system in Medellín, aiming to position it socially as a system or a subsystem within society itself.
