Implicaciones de la dieta baja en carbohidratos sobre el control metabólico y perfil lipídico en diabéticos tipo 2

Introducción: La diabetes tipo 2 (DM2) es un problema crítico de salud pública vinculado a la malnutrición por exceso y hábitos alimentarios inadecuados. Objetivo: Evaluar los efectos de una dieta baja en carbohidratos (DBC) sobre el control bioquímico en adultos con DM2. Método: Estudio explicativo, cuasiexperimental y longitudinal realizado en 76 pacientes del Hospital Dr. Napoleón Dávila Córdova (Ecuador). Se aplicó una DBC (130 g/día) durante 12 semanas, evaluando parámetros bioquímicos en tres momentos. Resultados: Se registró una reducción significativa (p < 0.05) de la glucosa en ayunas de 187,6 a 176,0 mg/dL y de la HbA1c de 7,9% a 7,7%. Conclusión: La DBC es una estrategia terapéutica eficaz para mejorar el control metabólico y el perfil lipídico en pacientes con DM2.
