Abstract

Older adulthood represents a constant challenge and a topic of multisectoral interest, as cognitive changes may affect functionality and increase dependency. Factors such as anxiety can accelerate cognitive decline. This study aimed to examine the potential association between cognitive performance and functionality in older adults. To achieve this, the Mini-Mental State Examination and the Lawton and Brody Scale were used, and data were analyzed using Spearman's rho statistic in JASP. A total of 29 older adults participated under strict confidentiality parameters for research purposes. The study concluded that, despite the absence of a direct association, symptoms related to cognitive decline were observed in participants engaged in cognitive training activities. Additionally, good functionality was evidenced. These findings highlight the need for further research on neurocognitive interventions to mitigate cognitive deterioration in older adulthood.
